Elegant design, gorgeous sparkling rainbow moonstone, and the rich earthy tones of fossilized walrus ivory make this pendant a timeless classic.
This design finds its roots in the early years of Zealandia Designs. The spiral design in the sterling silver setting is a classic design element you'll see in nearly every Zealandia piece. The spiral represents the path we came from, the path we're on and the path on which we're moving forward; it's a symbol of inner reflection and exploration. Spirals are found in so many places in the natural world, from the curl of a fern frond to the curve of seashells.
The sparkling moonstone accents the creamy coloring of the fossilized walrus ivory inlay. Fossilized walrus ivory is some 500 to 3,000 years old. It has lain buried in the earth for centuries where it accretes a range of warm tones from minerals in the nearby earth. Our fossilized walrus ivory is sourced from the native Yupik on St. Lawrence Island where only members of the tribe have permission to dig and excavate this gorgeous and unique material.
