The Mandala, a beloved symbol from the Buddhist tradition, represents the universe. Tibetan Buddhist monks create intricate and wondrous Mandala sand paintings that flow out from a central point, the colors and patterns intertwining and representing the divine essence that flows through all things.
Our designers placed a mabe pearl at the center of this silver Mandala pendant to represent the origin of this piece and, of course, the sea. Jenny Byrne, Zealandia's lead designer, feels a special kinship with the sea after growing up in New Zealand and spending much of her life traveling to far away coastlines. The mabe pearl is grown on the inside of a shell, giving it a flat back and making it ideal for pendant jewelry setting. Its silvery peacock coloring creates a luminous center point for our Mandala.
The pendant's outer circles are hand worked in 14kt gold fill blossoms and patterned sterling silver. They offer a rich and textured counterpoint to the mabe pearl's cool, oceanic luster. You'll cherish this piece of unique silver jewelry for a lifetime!
